As opensource fan and as concerned person about the climate crisis and the rise of fascism and the hype of generative A.I. it was painful to read about the rsync drama. And what to do ? Check the gokr (gokrazy) rsync application written in Go ? Or check out the openrsync from the OpenBSD project folks ? Or start reading more about Restic, Borg backup, Rclone and similar ?

One comment on Mastodon made me laugh. It mentioned that there’s a fork of rsync written in C. Therefore it will not take long before a version in Rust will appear and we will have more choice.
